Is there anyone outhere ?

I know it's been over an year, but development is slowly but surely moving forward.
There's still a hurdle to pass, and that is building an upgrade procedure from 0.9.4, last stable to the upcoming 1.0.

Among the goodies added on the frontend is translations in lists aka mass translation and the ability to import and export from various sources, like another project, a directory, upload, Mercurial, SVN, and so on.

To quote someone famous, version 1.0 will be ready when it's ready, but this post is here to say that development will be accelerated in the next weeks.

Hi! Nice news. I completely translate Narro 0.9.4 into Russian and test my translation. I'd loke to see Narro 1.0 with Russian translations for my site l10n.lrn.ru

Will can Narro use Git to import and export?

@sibskull: I received the translation, I'll include it in the next release. Regarding git, yes it will be supported as long as git is installed on the server. It's just a matter of Narro running git clone before import and git push after export.

It might get a little bit complicated when there's a need for SSH keys per account, but that's where I'm aiming at because that's how Mozilla translations submissions work.

I would also love to see a stable version. Was thinking of using existing one on our Community Builder project, but it appears to have issues.

Indeed, looking forward to stable version. Thanks!

I am unable to start a new project.

I chose dumbgettextpo type.

Upload a .po file.

Click import...

Nothing happens. No text is uploaded.

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

@john francis lee: by default the import is launched in the background. if you have a restricted php installation that doesn't allow launching processes or you're using a apache server under Windows OS then it most probably won't work

Thanks for the answer...

The server is FreeBSD. I don't know what restricted php installation is. How can I tell if I have one? I think the install tried to do something... it make the horizontal thermometer rise.

I guess I'll look in the logs... I just tried again. Nothing in the log. The thermometer went from left to right, but read 0%.

Maybe there is something wrong with the po file? Here's the first 25 lines...

I'm trying just to import a .po file... the INSTALL mentions an archive with two directories... should I make two directories, one with an en-us po and one with a th-th po and then tar them up and try to load that?

john francis lee said...

I read the message under

Project management,
Import project,
"If you don't upload an archive... "

a couple of times and it finally dawned on me to simply copy the .po files to the directory specified there.

Now I can see the strings I need to translate!

So, I'm off...

The next step is to create other users who can fix up my Thai translations :) Looks like I better get to work on translating the narro project itself as well!

Is there an explanation somewhere of the different project types? Or any more documentation at all?

Thanks for making this project available. It looks like just what we need!

I'm afraid I spoke too soon. I can see the English texts... but I cannot enter Thai translations. The Translation field is black and I cannot type anything into it.

If I click on "suggest" I can enter text... but the text entry is not correct. The vowels and tone marks do not go over the characters entered, for example, as they should.

Although I put both a

/th/JmolApplet-th.po, and
/en-US/JmolApplet-en.po

under the narro/data/import/3

directory, only the JmolApplet-en.po shows up in narro.

I have entry fields myself on my own pages in php which display Thai correctly in the same browser from the same server, so I don't know why these don't work in narro.

This is quite frustrating. There is no documentation at all, and I am afraid that the project itself has been, or perhaps is being, abandoned.

The Thai shows up ok after it's saved. It is just the data entry textarea that is messed up.

@john francis lee: let's take this discussion on email, please send me those Thai files, my email is alexxed, on gmail.com

The project is not abandoned, I have to admit I don't have the time to test it more than on my native language, I'm a developer with a full time job, so any feedback from users is helping.

For my native language it's been working fine for over an year now without modifications, so it must be just a language issue.

Right now, the project type don't influence anything.

In the next versions, depending on the project type, a file.ini would be parsed differently, because some files have the same extension but different formats inside.
